Blue pork?

I had some leftover raw pork from cooking on Saturday. I kept it in the fridge and took it out today to use it in some stir fry. I was disturbed to find that a corner of it was blue. It was a darkish royal navy blue color. I sniffed, and it smelled like stinky Chinese calligraphy ink. I should have tossed the entire thing, but I stupidly just cut away the blue part, washed the remaining lump of meat and tried to cook with it.

After I sat down to eat and bit into my first bite of stir fried meat, I could still taste the calligraphy ink smell. Again, I stupidly ate two more pieces to confirm that it really was bad. After the third piece, I finally determined that it really was bad and even cooking the meat in high heat didn't make it edible. I tossed the remaining meat into the trash, and now when I open the trash can, it still smells like stinky ink. I'm sitting here slightly nervous about self-induced food poisoning, and wondering if it's my imagination or whether my stomach is feeling a little queasy.

Lesson learned: cook all my meat the day I buy it. Meat in China doesn't refrigerate well like in the U.S. And try not to cook pork. I'll stick with the little chickens instead.

Don't try to be frugal. It's not worth it.

Wow, Nina, you're really bold! Be careful! I think just about the only thing worse than getting food poisoning in China is get food poisoning from cooking questionable meat in China. :P

Other than that, sounds like you've been having a blast.
